Valronica joined the University of Maryland in August 2019 as the Director of Resident Life within the Division of Student Affairs. In her role as the Director of Resident Life, she is a senior leader in the Division of Student Affairs, manages a professional staff of 90+ full time employees, 600+ paraprofessional employees and oversees a $75 million budget. Prior to joining the Terp family, Valronica was the Director of Residential Life at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Valronica played a pivotal role in supporting the personal growth of students in the residence halls providing general leadership for co-curricular initiatives related to students’ sense of community, leadership development, and involvement and engagement in the campus community as well as developing and supporting communities that enrich the social, cultural and intellectual growth of students living in campus housing. She also worked closely with residential staff in assessing the quality of the program and supported long-range and strategic planning for residence life while overseeing the administration of community life, student conduct, and leadership programs.  Valronica also previously served as a staff member at Washington University in St. Louis within the Department of Residential Life, in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, including oversight of the Social Justice Center and key member of the creation of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Washington University in St. Louis.

 Overall, Valronica has experience in strategic master planning, project and process management, fiscal responsibility, staff supervision and development, and student advising. She is passionate about social justice initiatives, student learning and engagement, campus inclusion and community outreach, and creating an inclusive environment that empowers students to create communities that contribute to holistic student achievement consisting of academic and personal success.  

 Valronica is a doctoral student in the Education, Adult and Higher Education program at Northern Illinois University.  She holds a Master of Education in Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Elon University.
